Cascade Rescue Line Saver – Chairlift & Gondola Evacuation Rope Protection

The Cascade Rescue Line Saver is a specialized rope-protection device designed for chairlift and gondola evacuation systems. It allows an evacuation rope to pass over a lift cable while helping protect the rope from abrasion, grease, dirt, and wear caused by direct contact with the haul cable.

Constructed from heavy-gauge zinc-plated steel tubing, the Line Saver is designed to secure over most chairlift cables. In addition to reducing rope abrasion, its shape helps prevent the rescue line from sliding underneath the chair attachment point on many lift configurations.

During lift evacuation, the rescue rope is routed through the Line Saver before the assembly is positioned over the haul cable. Once positioned, the rope can travel through the Line Saver rather than directly across the cable, reducing friction and helping extend the service life of the evacuation rope. Cascade Rescue notes that Line Savers have been used by ski areas for decades as part of lift-evacuation systems.
